Implementing Accessibility in Labs Workshop

University of East Anglia – Friday 13th November | 10am – 4pm

Dr Katherine Deane from University of East Anglia will lead this one day, in person, workshop exploring how accessibility can be meaningfully implemented within laboratory environments. The session will examine how ableism is systematically embedded within lab culture, practices, and infrastructure, and will consider approaches for creating change at both an individual and organisational level. Participants will explore key accessibility principles, discuss practical strategies for inclusive lab design and working practices, and gain insight into setting and achieving realistic accessibility targets within research and technical environments. Participants will also have a tour of Dr Deane’s labs and will be able to see first-hand how to implement changes to improve accessibility.

Places are limited and where demand exceeds capacity, participants will be selected based on their role and what they hope to gain from the workshop. Those who did not attend the online version of the workshop will be given priority.

The workshop is free to attend. Accommodation for the night of Thursday 12th November can be provided where required and travel costs will be reimbursed by TSN ROKS.

Places are limited and where interest exceeds capacity, we may cap attendees at a maximum of 2 from the same institution.
