The Technician Commitment is a global initiative championing technical professionals in higher education, research and innovation.
It helps to improve the visibility, recognition, career development and long-term sustainability of technical skills, roles and careers.
Since 2017, it’s grown into a community of 150+ organisations, pledging positive action to support and strengthen their technical workforce.
Now, after driving change for almost a decade, the Technician Commitment is expanding in Australia.
Australian signatories and supporters
Collaboration with Microscopy Australia and ACRI
$4.9m was awarded in June 2026 to Microscopy Australia and the Academy for Collaborative Research Infrastructure (ACRI).
This funding will be used to expand and grow the Technician Commitment community in Australia.
Australian organisations can become signatories or supporters and join our growing global community.
