The Mechanobiology Facility at the University of Glasgow provides specialised technologies and expertise for the mechanical and biophysical characterisation of biological systems and biomaterials from molecules and cells to tissues. The facility combines mechanical and biophysical characterisation, advanced imaging, biofabrication and micropatterning, enabling researchers to use complementary approaches within one facility. Key capabilities include atomic force microscopy (AFM), integrated Brillouin-Raman microscopy, nanoindentation, rheology, confocal imaging, 3D bioprinting and micropatterning. We support applications involving cells, tissues, hydrogels, scaffolds and engineered biomaterials, and welcome academic and commercial users for feasibility studies, training and independent equipment access.
