The Early Career Laser Laboratory employs a variety of ultrafast laser spectroscopies to facilitate the understanding of new materials in the areas of photovoltaics, photo(electro)chemistry and photocatalysis, with an emphasis on supporting early career researchers. We employ ultrafast Transient Absorption Spectroscopy (TAS) which is a pump-probe spectroscopic technique facilitating the understanding of photochemical and photophysical processes. We also use Vibrational Sum Frequency Generation (VSFG) spectroscopy, which, as a surface specific technique, is ideally suited to studying reactions at buried interfaces and facilitates our understanding of catalytic mechanisms.
