Nottingham’s Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Systems has a range of capabilities for crop, soil, water, greenhouse gas (CO2, CH4, N2O) and air pollutant analyses. Capabilities include organic chemistry (FTIR), biomarker analyses (PLFAs), microbial biomass C/N, ICP-MS, total elemental analysis (C/N), and a field portable NeoSpectra Handheld NIR Analyzer for soil spectral libraries. Available greenhouse gas analyses include a GC (for CO2, CH4, N2O), and portable analysers comprising a Gasmet GT5000 Terra for trace gases (>200 compounds including greenhouse gases and NH3), two EGM-5s (CO2), a Licor LI-7810 (CO2, and CH4), and a Picarro G2201-i Isotopic Analyzer for carbon isotopes (13CO2/13CH4).
